The LSU women's basketball team seems ready for the new season, and days before the action officially begins, the Tigers' star player, MiLaysia Fulwiley, spoke about the team's readiness.
Speaking to the media ahead of LSU's first game of the season, Fulwiley talked about the offseason preparation, highlighting where her team has been doing well, and even named the team's fastest player.
"Definitely myself," Fulwiley said humorously while discussing the quickest player on the LSU team.
"Lola (Lampley) was really fast for a freshman; I didn't expect her to like be so strong-minded and just go out there and run as hard as she did, and Laila (Reynolds) for sure, she's really fast, and Jada (Williams), I don't think she came in second any of the reps," she said , per Mike Scarborough via X. "I feel like a lot of other teams, they're not gonna be able to keep up with us because we're so fast and I think that's gonna really help us a lot in transition. I'm a transition player myself, so I know that's gonna help me."
MiLaysia Fulwiley on How LSU Plans to Balance Speed With Other Attributes
MiLaysia Fulwiley gave some insight into the advice from head coach Kim Mulkey about how to keep the balance between attributes during practice.
"That's what practice is for (making mistakes). I feel like we make a lot of mistakes for that reason in practice, and coach is kinda telling us, 'don't overpass'. Once you get past the free throw line, just go up, and I think that kinda helps us be confident and going down the court making the easy lay-up," she said, per Mike Scarborough via X.
Fulwiley is Mulkey's trump card again this season, and LSU fans hope she's at her best as the Tigers get ready to take on the Southeastern Louisiana Lions in Baton Rouge on Nov. 2.
