- Notre Dame 2026 Player Profile: Offensive Lineman Peter Jones
Notre Dame has a very deep offensive line in 2026, and there are a number of players that are battling for roles in the Irish two-deep. One of those players in redshirt sophomore Peter Jones, a former four-star recruit that is trying to push his way into the two-deep this season.
Let's continue our preseason analysis with a look at Jones:
Class/Eligibility: Junior / Sophomore
Height/Weight: 6-5, 315
Hometown/High School: Coatesville, Pa./Malvern Prep
Jones did not play in 2025. He played just thee snaps in 2024.
Jones goes into fall camp with an opportunity to earn a spot in the two deep at guard. He's played both guard spots in practice, but left guard is where he has primarily played in open practices. Jones is a good sized, physical interior player and now has two seasons under his belt. I liked what I saw from him during the spring, especially in the run game. He continues to show improvement in the pass game as well. Jones will compete with players like Devan Houstanand players from the freshman class for the No. 2 spot at left guard.
This is a big year for Jones, and if he's going to ever have a chance to earn a starting role at Notre Dame he'll need to make a push this season. Jones is battling older players for a spot in the two deep, but there is also a group of very talented young players that are pushing him. If he can't make a move this season he'll likely get buried and his window to earn a key spot will pass.
Jones is a tough kid that made a name for himself as a dominant run blocker in high school. It took him a bit to get that part of his game growing at Notre Dame, but we definitely started to show that off in the spring. Jones had a number of quality moments in the run game during the spring when the media was there. He competed well, his leg drive was better and he had a number of strong blocks in the run game. Jones also showed improvement in the pass game, which is key to becoming a legit two-deep player.
In year three, Jones will need to show he's ready to become a more forceful blocker and that his technique has grown enough to help overcome some of his athletic deficiencies.
One in which Jones continues showing growth, battles in the run game and is able to push his way into the two-deep. Jones has the physicality and size to be a starting caliber player at Notre Dame, and a good season in 2026 is one where he starts to be more consistently effective, does what he needs to do in the pass game and locks down a two-deep spot.
