It was a very interesting morning for Notre Dame basketball, as the new Leprechaun logo was announced but some bad injury news also hit the headlines.

Let’s get to the bad news first, and that has to due with star guard Markus Burton . He suffered injury in the overtime win over TCU , but it is being reported by Tom Noie that he will be out for an extended period of time as he recovers from a left ankle and foot injury.

Burton’s status is viewed as “not good” as a source told Noie, and he’s expected to miss more time than he did last year with a knee injury. This is a massive blow for Notre Dame , as it looked like they could contend for a spot in the NCAA Tournament. They’ll look for others to step up now.

On to the good news, as the new basketball Leprechaun logo was released. Throughout the 2025-26 sports season, Notre Dame has been adjusting its classic logo for a contemporary look. While the football logo was inspired by Xavier Watts , the basketball one is more general but still looks great. Take a look below for yourself.

Update: Burton will now undergo surgery on Wednesday with no timetable for a return.
