Notre Dame lands top kicker from the portal who is a 2-year starter
One of the biggest issues for Notre Dame football this fall was its kicking game, as Noah Burnette battled a groin injury and couldn’t stay healthy, Marcello Diomede wasn’t let trusted enough to try a field goal then entered the transfer portal , and Erik Schmidt missed all three of his try’s.
It was a big time area of frustration for head coach Marcus Freeman, and he made it a priority to update the position in the transfer portal. He did exactly that late on Tuesday night, as Purdue kicker Spencer Porath committed to the Irish .
In his freshman season with the Boilermakers , he’d make 7-of-11 field goals with a long of 45-yards. This season was even better for Porath, as he connected on 15-of-17 field goals with a long of 53-yards. He was great from inside 40-yards in 2025, making all 9 of his attempts.
Notre Dame has made a big update in its kicking game, and while it might not be the flashiest commitment, it’s one of the most important.
