- Notre Dame Receiver Coach Mike Brown And Players Talk BYU Loss And Navy Prep

After a much needed bye week, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are back in action this week against the 2-5 Navy Midshipmen in one of the most storied rivalries in college football. The Irish are coming off of their first loss since September of 2025 and are ready to right the ship against their oldest rival. Today after practice, we heard from wide receivers coach Mike Brown, linebacker Jaylen Sneed, safety Luke Talich, running back Nolan James Jr. and wide receiver Jaden Greathouse about the work they put into the bye week and what they need to accomplish moving forward.

Here are some of the main quotes from today's post-practice press conference:
"It's all about consistency," Brown explained. "And the guys have done a good job. I know there's a lot of questions about rotations and it's not that anybody's doing anything wrong. I do have trust in our guys. I think our guys have continually gotten better. We've had, since I've been here over these past three years, Jordan Faisonand Jaden Greathouse. They've been two of the better players on our offense. Sometimes when you get into those situations, it's those big moments in those big games.
"You think back to so many of our big games that we've had, those guys have made plays over and over and over again," Brown continued about the receiver rotation. "So you tend to lean on the guys that have done it time and time again in those moments. But with that being said, I understand, we got to get more guys into the rotation and we will. Moving forward, guys are continuing to work and we're working to get better at it every single day."
"Yeah, I definitely think my routes have been constantly improving," Greathouse shared. "Contested catching has always been something that we've been big on and just trying to stay competitive in the wide receiver room, using everything that we got to push each other to steal things from other people. And learning about routes and all those kinds of things. Coach Brown has been a great help in our development and we're going to try to keep developing the rest of the season."
"It was very frustrating, but Freeman always talks about like there's going to be struggle," Sneed stated. "There's going to be adversity and you're going to go through things and anything that's worth it in life is going to be hard. That's what he says. So I just try to keep that in the back of my mind and know it's going to be hard, but just keep working to get better every day."
"Navy's a unique offense, and they run a different type of scheme, and we definitely change a lot of things," Talich shared. "Pretty much our whole package is completely changed, and it's more so just discipline and assignment football and just kind of focusing and keeping your eyes on the right thing and executing your job every play. And you can't do anyone else's job. You just got to do your job."
