After UNC stocked up on big men, perhaps not surprisingly, FAU transfer Maxim Logue decided to try his luck elsewhere, and is back in the portal.

We were looking forward to seeing Logue at UNC, Flory Bidunga at Louisville, and Baye Ndongo at Pitt. They’re all highly athletic and capable, and in a new environment, might really thrive.

The funniest thing Logue could do would be to commit to NC State, and presumably, new coach Justin Gainey could use a big man. We could see Steve Forbes making. case for Wake Forest, too. However, those are not the most intriguing possibilities.

As college basketball fans, there is one place where he’d be really fun to watch, and that’s St. John’s.

Rick Pitino is saying farewell to big man Zuby Ejiofor, and unless he has a high school hotshot in the fold, he hasn’t really replaced him.

He might be able to find someone overseas, as UNC did, but that may or may not pan out

We keep thinking about what Logue’s coach said: he’s been at Baylor and Gonzaga, and Logue is as athletic as any big man he’s been around. He had injuries last season, and language is still an issue, but if he’s healthy and fully up to speed, he’s a monster.

Health is obviously an issue, but assuming that’s okay, if you’re in New York, and at a Catholic school, if you sneeze, you should have a good chance of someone nearby saying À tes souhaits!

The idea of Pitino working with a guy like that is very intriguing, and we’re not sure he can do much better at this late date.
