Recently, the Denver Nuggets ' 2025-26 season came to a catastrophic end with a brutal Game 6 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves , playing without several key players. The Nuggets certainly would have liked to have had wing Peyton Watson in this one, who missed the stretch run of the season and the entirety of the playoffs due to an injury.
Watson is set to hit restricted free agency this summer, and recently, ClutchPoints NBA insider Brett Siegel shed light on just how much money the forward could command on the market.
"Two different front-office personnel who spoke with ClutchPoints from teams not expected to pursue Watson this offseason anticipate him signing a new contract with an annual average value that exceeds $24 million, with one stating that the 23-year-old forward could even see a deal in the $30 million per year range," reported Siegel, noting that Watson's athleticism makes him especially valuable in today's NBA landscape.
The Nuggets will need to clear space in order to be able to keep Watson this summer, as the wing is sure to have plenty of other interested suitors.
"It is expected that at least one rival team will be aggressive in their pursuit of Watson and try to lure him with an offer sheet early in free agency to put pressure on the Nuggets," reported Siegel.
Watson enjoyed a breakout season this year, particularly in the stretch when Nikola Jokic was sidelined due to injury, and figures to be a big part of Denver's plan moving forward–that is, if they are indeed able to keep him this summer.
In any case, NBA free agency is slated to begin on June 30.
