Multiple reliable German football media sources are now reporting sensational news. Hoffenheim striker Fisnik Asllani 's transfer to RB Leipzig has unexpectedly fallen apart at the last moment. The reason cited by Kicker, Sky Germanyand others concerns the fact that Leipzig had second thoughts following Asllani's medical. Hoffenheim have now issued a press release confirming this.
The 23-year-old was reported to have travelled to Leipzig for his medical on Thursday after the two Bundesliga clubs had reached an agreement on the transfer. Reports suggested Asllani passed his medical. Despite this, confirmation of Asllani's reported €25m move to the German Red Bulls never came.
Instead, the Kosovo international will now remain with Hoffenheim for the time being.
"Fisnik has made remarkable progress at TSG," TSG sporting director Andreas Schicker noted in a club statement. "The fact that this transfer has now fallen through is, from a sporting perspective, anything but bad news for us. It's absolutely clear to us that Fisnik can perform at the highest level, both physically and athletically."
"We stand by our player," Schicker's statement continues. "Fisnik made a significant contribution to our success last season, completed preseason training at his usual high level, and will be back training with the team starting next week."
