After about a month of speculation, it is finally official. The Philadelphia Flyers have officially agreed to terms on a 5-year extension worth $27.5 million, or $5.5 million a year, with goaltender Dan Vladar . 2026-27 is the final season of his current contract, which carries a $3.35 million AAV this coming season.
There were multiple reports over the last month regarding the expected new deal. Pierre LeBrun was first with the years and AAV.

The new extension does not kick in until the 2027-28 season. It will carry him through the 2031-32 season, when Vladar will be 34 years old.
Vladar broke onto the scene with the Flyers in 2025-26, smashing the previous record high of 30 games played with his 52, plus 10 postseason games. Despite the much heavier workload, the 28-year-old Czech netminder showed no signs of fatigue. In the season with by far the most games played, Vladar also posted a career-best .906 SV% and a 2.42 GAA, also a career high.
During the regular season, Vladar did not post a shutout for the Flyers, despite a spectacular year. He had 2 during the postseason, all within the 6-game First Round series against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Vladar emerged as a leader within the locker room, loved by the coaching staff and his teammates. Rick Tocchet has even gone so far as to say that if goalies could, he'd be a legitimate candidate for a letter. The goalie frequently skated to the bench last season to pick up his teammates and get them going during breaks.

Giving a long-term deal to a player that signed a year ago today with no real No. 1 experience can be risky. However, the cap hit is low, and Vladar seemed to be a real difference-maker in Year 1.
Dan Vladar will be under contract for teh next 6 seasons with the Flyers, with the new extension expiring in 2031-31.
