Ohio State football makes under-the-radar transfer portal moves

The Ohio State Buckeyes have been active in the transfer portal in recent days and show no signs of slowing down as they continue to look for ways to add talent for 2026 and beyond. Their latest additions come from UCF , where Ohio State brought in two former three-star recruits to help fill immediate needs.

John Walker headlines the group as a 6-foot-3, 300-pound defensive lineman who ranked as a top 90 player in the portal. Ohio State also added long snapper Dalton Riggs , who served as UCF’s starting long snapper last season after handling the role at BYU in 2024. With both Matthew Ferlmann and his 2025 backup Collin Johnson out of eligibility, Riggs is the clear favorite to take over as Ohio State’s starting long snapper next season.

Walker projects as a replacement for Kayden McDonald , who is widely expected to head to the NFL. As a sophomore in 2025, Walker posted 39 total tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble for the Knights. These may not be splashy additions, but they are quietly solid moves that help Ohio State replace key starters from the 2025 roster while maintaining depth and experience.
