Ohio State to host top 2028 basketball target
Ohio State will have an opportunity to host one of the top players in the 2028 recruiting cycle.
Cole Kelly, a four-star player at Neuqua Valley in Naperville, IL. and plays club basketball for Breakaway released a group of schools that he will be planning on making unofficial visits to, and a visit to Columbus is one of them.

Kelly, a 6-foot-5 point-forward is ranked No. 34 overall in the 2028 class by 24/7 Sports, and is the No. 2 overall from the state of Illinois. The Buckeyes extended a scholarship offer during the spring and are now set to host him on campus. Kelly also plans on visiting Iowa , Nebraska , Indiana, and Wisconsin . He has already taken visits to Illinois and Purdue. Many feel Illinois currently holds a slight edge as the home-state school, but all that can change with the right experience on one of his visits.
Kelly projects as a physical wing who can also be the engineer of the offense with his high basketball IQ. His versatility to play multiple positions on the basketball court are just one of the reasons he is sought after not just by Ohio State head coach Jake Diebler but also many of his peers in the Big Ten.
For Ohio State, the upcoming unofficial visit will give the Buckeyes the opportunity to make a real impression on a player that could be a foundational piece of their 2028 recruiting class.
