Ohio State Kicker Jayden Fielding Received 'Disturbing' Threats
Unfortunately, Ohio State kicker Jayden Fielding is trending during the Cotton Bowl for the wrong reasons.
From an efficiency standpoint, Fielding has been productive for the defending champions. He came into New Year's Eve making 16-of-19 field goal attempts. That being said, he has come up short in crucial situations for Ohio State. For example, he missed a 27-yard field goal against Indiana in the Big Ten Championship.
During this year's Cotton Bowl media availability, Fielding revealed that his home address and phone number were leaked after the Big Ten Championship. Unfortunately, that led to people sending him threatening messages.
“I'd say it was probably worse this year than last year,” Fielding told Eleven Warriors . “I was constantly in contact with the OSU Police Department for my safety because they were worried about me and my mom was worried about me. They were always in constant contact with me, making sure I was all right.
That ugly trend hasn't slowed down.
After Fielding missed a 49-yard field goal at the end of the first half against Miami, countless fans went on social media to criticize him.
"If Jayden Fielding is the benchmark for a scholarship, when is tryouts," one fan wrote on X.
"Three guarantees in life… death, taxes and Jayden Fielding being absolute crap at his job," a second fan said. "Only reason he should be on the sidelines anymore is to be a water boy."
"Leave Jayden Fielding in the locker room when you come back out. Hope to never see you kick in a Ohio State uniform after this season," another fan commented.
We certainly hope Fielding stays off social media for the next few days. As for the people sending him threats, we seriously hope they cut out this despicable behavior.
