The No. 5 Ohio State Buckeyes are facing off against the No. 14 Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday. Leading up to the contest, it was said that true freshman cornerback Jay Timmons was going to be a game-time decision . His latest injury update reveals he is not expected to play, however, he isn't quite ruled out either.
Reports indicate that Timmons will still dress down for Saturday's matchup against Iowa, according to Pete Thamel of ESPN. The Pittsburgh native could still make an appearance in a limited role, but is seemingly unlikely.
"UPDATE: Ohio State starting nickel Jay Timmons is not expected to play for the Buckeyes today, per an ESPN source," Thamel reported. "He's expected to dress and may be available in an extremely limited role, but he's considered unlikely to play."

Timmons is dealing with a hamstring injury he suffered during Ohio State's 42-19 Week 4 win. The injury is not likely serious, considering head coach Ryan Day has him dressing down in an emergency role against Iowa.
Jay Timmons was a five-star recruit and was viewed as the No. 12 overall prospect for the 2026 class. He's already making a name for himself with the Buckeyes, recording nine combined tackles (seven solo), one tackle for a loss, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and four pass deflections through four games, playing in the nickelback position.
With Timmons not expected to see any action, Ohio State is likely to start fellow true freshman Jordan Thomas in his place. Backup Miles Lockhart could also see some extra reps against Iowa as well.
