Ole Miss transfer quarterback provides shocking reaction to Trinidad Chambliss decision
The ripple effect in college football may already be seen at play following the Mississippi courts’ ruling on Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss. Chambliss was granted an injunction that will allow him to play in the 2026 college football season.
A quarterback on the Ole Miss roster made heads turn as he appeared to have reacted to the ruling. Auburn transfer Deuce Knight made specific changes to his Instagram page that have caught the attention of many.

Knight transferred to Ole Miss after the hiring of Auburn head football coach Alex Golesh. He also brought his quarterback from USF in Byrum Brown.
Knight decided to transfer after these moves as he felt he was ready to start. He might have been able to compete with Brown at Auburn, but that seems unlikely. Instead, he took an opportunity at SEC rival Ole Miss.
Now, Ole Miss has a situation on their hands. The scrubbing of Ole Miss content on Knight’s page is the modern signal of an athlete voicing their displeasure.

Knight reportedly had been told by Ole Miss head football coach Pete Golding that the job would, in essence, be his. With Ole Miss providing their support to Chambliss, the thought might have been that Chambliss wouldn’t win this battle. A loss in gaining more eligibility would’ve sent Chambliss to the NFL.

Now, Ole Miss might have lost their start transfer portal acquisition. It’s unclear what Knight can do about this. The NCAA, though, could appeal the Mississippi court’s decision.
That would leave them potentially with no quarterback if Knight refuses to play and Chambliss is unable to play in 2026. The NCAA might not appeal, which will then lead to a simple decision by Knight with his limited options.
