The Bundesliga hits pause for three weeks, with Borussia Dortmund sitting two points clear at the top after picking up four wins from four.
Bayern Munich are the closest challengers, alongside Freiburg , with Vincent Kompany's side delivering the weekend's biggest result by putting seven past Union Berlin on Friday evening.
Elsewhere, Werder Bremen produced a stunning comeback against Augsburg , Hamburg finally found their rhythm, and Bayer Leverkusen recorded an impressive win against RB Leipzig .
Looking back at the weekend before the international break, here are the five big stories from Matchday 4.
Bayern's 7-0 win against Union Berlin on Friday managed to produce two standout stories on the same evening.
Harry Kane scored his 100th Bundesliga goal from the spot in the 39th minute to reach the landmark in just 98 appearances, beating Dieter Müller's previous record of 129.
The England captain then added number 101 early in the second half, but by full-time, the match ball belonged to Michael Olise.
The Frenchman had already won the penalty for Kane's century when he fired Bayern's third into the near corner shortly before the break, before he later rounded Frederik Rønnow for his second and completed the hat-trick with a superb finish from outside the area.
Olise also provided the cross for Kane's second, leaving the winger directly involved in five of Bayern's seven goals over the course of the evening.
Jamal Musiala had opened the scoring, while summer signing Ismael Saibari found the net from the bench, and Tom Bischof set up two goals in the space of three minutes in the second half.
Union did force Manuel Neuer into two excellent saves after the break, but the evening was a comfortable one for the champions.
The concerning factor for the rest of the league was, once again, Bayern's refusal to ease off.
Der Rekordmeister covered eight kilometres more than Union, and continued to press for more goals until the very end - something that has become synonymous with Kompany's Bayern.
After dispatching Stuttgart on opening night, Bayern dropped points at Schalke before edging narrowly past Elversberg.
Obviously, there was never going to be too much concern at Säbener Straße, but they have responded to what can be classed as a blip in Bayern's world perfectly, leaving them second heading into the break with 14 goals scored and just the two conceded at the other end.
Last week's verdict was that Borussia Dortmund were ticking along nicely, even if their football had yet to truly quicken the pulse.
After Saturday's 1-0 victory in Stuttgart, they enter the international break with a perfect league record and a two-point lead at the summit.
BVB did not exactly dominate, with the first half producing few clear chances, while VfB forced several mistakes, and Gregor Kobel had to make saves from Ermedin Demirovic and Deniz Undav .
But Niko Kovac's side kept their composure before the coach's substitutions eventually swung the contest.
Jobe Bellingham and Konstantinos Karetsas came on after 62 minutes. Eight minutes later, Bellingham surged down the right and swept a low ball across the six-yard box for Maximilian Beier to convert.
Stuttgart answered with their strongest spell of the afternoon, but Dortmund stood firm to record a second successive clean sheet and a fourth win in four matches.
Kovac called it a "statement win" and took particular satisfaction from Beier's decisive contribution after the forward was omitted from Jürgen Klopp's two Germany squads.
Four matches are far too few to pronounce upon a title race, and Dortmund have hardly swept opponents aside as Bayern did on Friday.
Even so, nine goals scored and only two conceded tell their own story.
Dortmund have already shown they can cruise through home fixtures and grind out victories away from the Westfalenstadion.
For now, the rest of the Bundesliga is chasing them.
Mitchell Weiser waited 483 days to pull on a Werder Bremen shirt again.
After returning as a substitute in Köln last weekend, his first appearance back at the Weserstadion delivered the sort of moment he could scarcely have scripted.
Werder found themselves 2-0 down against Augsburg after 58 minutes, despite enjoying more possession and creating the better chances.
Robin Fellhauer finished a swift counter-attack for the opener before Calvin Brackelmann doubled the visitors' advantage from a corner.
What followed was a comeback to remember.
Marco Grüll dragged Bremen back into the contest with a superb solo effort, before Niclas Füllkrug levelled the score four minutes from time.
That seemed the final act of an impressive Saturday afternoon recovery, but Weiser had other ideas.
In the third minute of stoppage time, the full-back collected the ball on the edge of the penalty area and curled a wonderful finish into the top corner, sending the Weserstadion into delirium.
His teammates mobbed him after the final whistle, while Daniel Thioune greeted the match-winner with a long embrace, before Weiser then climbed onto the fence to celebrate with the supporters, bringing an emotional afternoon to a fitting close.
"I often dreamed about this moment," he admitted afterwards . Having spent much of last season unsure whether he would play for Werder again, Weiser signed a one-year extension in June.
The dramatic 3-2 victory lifted Bremen onto seven points, but the afternoon will be remembered less for Bremen's positioning in the standings and more for the player who completed an extraordinary comeback.
After more than 16 months away, Weiser could hardly have dreamed of a better homecoming.
Hamburg entered Saturday's fixture against Köln on the back of a difficult start to the season, having lost their first three matches, conceding 12 goals, and failing to find the net themselves.
The recent back-to-back 5-0 defeats to Mainz and Leipzig had already put pressure on Merlin Polzin's side, making this game feel more consequential than a usual September encounter.
While the Red Shorts' performance wasn't flawless, the victory was exactly what HSV needed.
Köln posed a threat in the first half and created the better chances, but Daniel Heuer Fernandes kept them at bay, denying Mikey Moore and Thijs Dallinga .
Just before halftime, Nicolás Capaldo headed in from a corner to score Hamburg's first Bundesliga goal of the season.
After the break, Yussuf Poulsen put Hamburg ahead with his first league goal since joining, finishing Albert Grønbæk's cross five minutes in.
Heuer Fernandes again stood firm as Köln pushed for a response, but Ragnar Ache struck in the 90th minute to reduce the deficit. Hamburg held firm to secure a vital win.
Post-match, Polzin, who extended his contract on Friday, acknowledged that possession remains an issue for Hamburg . Nonetheless, he praised his team for moving "in the same direction".
One victory does not erase the concerns from an otherwise troubling start, with Hamburg remaining 16th with a goal difference of minus 11.
Nonetheless, after two heavy defeats, this first win provides some relief heading into the break.
Patrik Schick has found the net in every Bundesliga match this season, but Bayer Leverkusen's 2-0 victory over RB Leipzig was about more than just their striker's latest goal.
Leipzig believed they had taken the lead when Christopher Nkunku scored on his return to the starting lineup, only for the goal to be disallowed for offside.
Schick then made Leipzig pay shortly before halftime, volleying Miguel Gutiérrez's cross with an acrobatic finish for his fourth league goal in as many games.
Gutiérrez added the second from outside the penalty area after 57 minutes, while Ibrahim Maza continued to impress in midfield.
Leverkusen were not entirely dominant, but once they took the lead, they limited Leipzig's chances to mount a comeback.
This came after Leverkusen conceded three goals against Elversberg in their opening weekend and five in their first two league fixtures.
Following Thursday's 2-0 Europa League win over Celje, they secured another victory by the same scoreline against tougher opponents.
While it's still early days, seven points from four games and a top-five spot mark a promising recovery from a difficult start, after an underpar 2025/26 term.
With Schick scoring regularly and improved balance behind him, Leverkusen appear to be finding their footing this season.
