- Olympiacos May Attempt to Sign Genoa Midfield Maestro This Winter

According to an update by TransferFeed, Olympiacos may renew their attempts to sign Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup during the winter transfer window.
The Red and Whites lodged a firm interest in securing the services of the Danish midfielder earlier in the summer, but the Serie A side held out with their demands exceeding 10 million euros. Olympiacos were reluctant on matching Genoa's asking price for the former Brondby man, and they went forward with the likes of Gustavo Puerta and Remo Freuler as their midfield reinforcements.

While the Greek giants ditched their plans temporarily for the player's summer transfer, they are still on the lookout to seal his signature in the upcoming window. Olympiacos went as far as sending an official bid to Genoa to assess the situation regarding his potential sale. However, the offer was rejected by the Italian club since it was lower than their estimates.
Frendrup has been one of the most consistent midfield performers in the Serie A throughout the last three seasons. After signing for Genoa from Danish side Brondby, he has been an incredible professional, focusing on his midfield duties, improving the standards of a mid-table side, while garnering considerable interest from several European outfits.
Another hurdle in the race for his signature is that Frendrup has never asked for a transfer and has yet to pay heed to the rumours around his future at Genoa. He went on to renew his contract with the club at the beginning of 2024, and the current expiration is set for June 30, 2028. Following the extension of his deal at the side, his annual earnings improved to around 1 million euros a year. Convincing Frendrup to transfer remains a significant obstacle for Olympiacos, as he might be keen on a better offer elsewhere if he opens the door to a departure this winter.
As things stand, Olympiacos' possible attempt to sign Frendrup on a permanent deal from Genoa is a complex one. We can expect the Greeks to have maintained internal contacts with the Serie A team after sending a bid in the summer. The key lies in turning these preliminary connections into concrete negotiations. However, nothing will progress until Olympiacos stop lowering the asking price and matches Genoa's demands, which are expected to be renewed soon.
More details regarding this saga are set to emerge in the coming days and we will keep this space updated with all the latest information.
