OneFootball x FanDuel: The key questions on World Cup Day 1️⃣
The greatest show on earth returns after four years away.

What games are on today?

The first match of the tournament kicks off in Mexico City as co-hosts Mexico take on South Africa.
The Mexicans have a mixed World Cup history but a win against Bafana Bafana here can surely help in their quest to go further than the round of 16 for the first ever time.
Our prediction: Mexico 2-1 South Africa
Korea Republic v Czechia
Guadalajara hosts the second match of the day as Korea Republic take on Czechia in Group A's other clash.
This could be a match-up of two very different philosophies but will Korea's all-action style melt under the Mexican heat?
They are led by LAFC 's Heung-min Son who will want to make an impressive start in what's likely to be his last ever World Cup.

Our prediction: Korea Republic 1-1 Czechia

Being a host nation at a World Cup can be both a help and a hindrance but that surely won't phase Armando González.
The Mexico striker is definitely one to watch this summer having burst on to the scene following his Golden Boot in the 2025 Apertura for Chivas.
A wily forward who is cool under pressure and sniffs out goals at every opportunity, don't be surprised if the 23-year-old earns himself a big-money move after his summer exploits.
Can you give me one stat to impress my friends?

Mexico and South Africa will repeat the opening fixture of the 2010 World Cup exactly 16 years after their 1-1 draw in Johannesburg (June 11, 2010). It's the first time an opening fixture has ever been repeated in the 19 previous single-match World Cup openers.
