Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Miguel Rojas is expected to retire after the 2026 season. However, there is one way he will consider continuing his career after the ’26 campaign.
“If we three-peat,” Rojas said in reference to the only way he will consider continuing his MLB career after this season, via Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
“When I made this decision to retire and play for one more year, it’s not because I felt I couldn’t play. I can still play,” Rojas added. “I can prepare to go and play shortstop for 100 games. But it’s bigger than that. I’m family-oriented.”
Leaving the game to spend time with his family would be an understandable decision. Rojas, who hit a clutch Game 7 World Series home run a season ago, is leaving the door open to play past the 2026 season, though. And LA will have a legitimate opportunity to three-peat without question. While the Dodgers have struggled in recent action , the roster is still the best in baseball.
The 37-year-old veteran infielder is currently hitting .341/.375/.477 across 18 games played. He is still performing at a respectable level, but Rojas is also a leader. He seems to be respected by his teammates in Los Angeles . While superstars such as Shohei Ohtani , Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman receive most of the attention, Rojas’ impact cannot be ignored.
The Dodgers can make Miguel Rojas ’ retirement decision quite difficult by earning a third consecutive Fall Classic victory this year. For now, the ball club is focused on its upcoming series against the Cardinals in St. Louis .
