Oregon loses transfer TE Vander Ploog to NC State

The Oregon Ducks ' tight end room has gone through a transition since the 2025 season ended, with multiple tight ends departing via the transfer portal. One of those tight ends, true freshman Vander Ploog , has found a new home with his commitment to the NC State Wolfpack .

The 6-foot-6, 242-pound Ploog was rated as a four-star and the No. 13 tight end and No. 244 player overall in the 2025 class, per 247 Sports. He went to Troy High School in Fullerton, CA.

Ploog didn't catch a pass during his lone season in Eugene, as he was buried on the depth chart behind several veterans and accomplished tight ends. He utilized a redshirt in 2025.

Ploog was once committed to Washington before he flipped his commitment to Oregon in November of 2024.

Now, he'll head to NC State and help the Wolfpack replace departed tight end Justin Joly, who was the second-leading receiver on the team in 2025.

Ploog will have four seasons of eligibility remaining at NC State.
