The Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays are in the middle of the final game of their series, and a fan had to be escorted out of Camden Yards. Apparently, they threw a ball at a Blue Jays player, and he was injured , according to Jacob Calvin Meyer of the Baltimore Sun.
"It appears a fan in the right field bleachers at Camden Yards threw a ball at Blue Jays RF Jesús Sánchez and hit him on the wrist. Sánchez was in pain and left the game. When explaining to Toronto manager John Schneider what happened, Sánchez pointed toward the RF stands," Calvin Meyer wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
According to a spokesperson from the Orioles, they identified the fan and "removed them from the ballpark while we conduct a thorough investigation."
Calvin Meyer spoke to people who were around the situation, and they said it was an accident .
"They described it as an accident. They said a young fan, about 13, saw Sánchez flapping his glove as if to indicate to play catch. The kid then threw the ball late, after Sánchez turned around. The fan was kicked out," Calvin Meyer wrote on X.
It's unfortunate that happened, but the ballpark had to make the tough decision to remove the fan, especially since a player was injured. It's uncertain if Sanchez is seriously injured , and it probably doesn't make things better that the Blue Jays are losing the game.
There will most likely be an update on Sanchez and the fan in the coming days.
