The Baltimore Orioles received a pair of significant pitching injury updates , with one offering a cautious dose of optimism and the other representing a notable setback for a rotation already stretched thin heading into the summer stretch.

Starting with the more encouraging news , right-handed reliever Yennier Cano appears to have avoided the injured list after a scary exit from Baltimore's May 27 game against the Tampa Bay Rays . Cano left in the eighth inning showing visible discomfort due to right hamstring tightness, immediately raising concerns about the team's bullpen depth.
However, after undergoing imaging, Cano stepped back onto the mound for a bullpen session on May 29, and the results were encouraging. Sources indicate he is trending in the right direction to avoid an IL stint, though the team has not yet provided a specific timeline for his return. Retaining Cano in the active bullpen would be a meaningful win for Baltimore, as the hard-throwing right-hander has been one of the more reliable arms out of the pen this season.
The news was considerably more sobering on the Dean Kremer front. The right-handed starter, already dealing with a right quad strain originally suffered in the days following his April 18 start in Cleveland , was transferred to the 60-day injured list on May 29. Kremer had initially been placed on the 15-day IL retroactive to April 20, and despite joining the club in St. Petersburg for the Rays series on May 18 as a sign of potential progress, the organization ultimately determined the 60-day designation was the appropriate move.

That roster decision effectively removes him from consideration until at least late June at the earliest, putting further pressure on Baltimore's pitching staff to fill the void in the rotation.
For an Orioles team with playoff aspirations, keeping Cano active while managing Kremer's extended absence will be one of the more pressing roster challenges of the coming weeks.
