- OU football’s Eli Bowen game-time decision for Red River against No. 1 Texas
It's still unclear if OU's top cornerback will play in the Cotton Bowl.
Oklahoma football cornerback Eli Bowen is a game-time decision for the Sooners' Saturday game against No. 1 Texas in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl.
Saturday's Report:
Eli Bowen, CB – GAME-TIME DECISION
Jack Van Dorselaer, TE – GAME-TIME DECISION
Owen Heinecke, LB – PLAYING
Cole Sullivan, LB – PLAYING
Jer'Michael Carter – PLAYING
Michael Boganowski, S – PLAYING
Michael Fasusi, OL – OUT
Xavier Robinson, RB − OUT
Jacobe Johnson, CB – OUT
Trynae Washington, TE – OUT
Fred Hinton, OL – OUT
Eddy Pierre-Louis, OL – OUT
Trell Harris, WR – OUT
Taylor Heim, LB – OUT
Bowen appeared on the availability report Friday evening as 'questionable' and will try to give it a go as the 2:45 p.m. kickoff time approaches Saturday.
If Bowen is unable to go, sophomore corner Tystan Haynes and junior corner Dakoda Fields are expected to fill Bowen's spot, specifically with Haynes getting the start.
Tight end Jack Van Droselaer is also a GTD. He's appeared on the report since Wednesday as questionable and probable.
OU starting left guard Eddy Pierre-Louis is officially out for the game, putting the Sooners out two starting offensive linemen for the matchup with the Longhorns. He was seen with a massive brace on his right leg and had a singular crutch helping him get around the field pregame.
He is out along with starting left tackle Michael Fasusi, who has now missed the past four games for the Sooners. Fasusi out gives Texas a bigger advantage as the Longhorns have edge rusher Colin Simmons waiting to wreak havoc on the Sooners' deplenished O-line.
Simmons got five sacks two weeks ago in Texas' 20-17 win at then-No. 14 Tennessee. He's potentially the top defensive player selected in the 2027 NFL Draft and could make it a long day for OU quarterback John Mateer.
