The Indiana Pacers are scheduled to take on the Atlanta Hawks on Monday evening with the goal of earning their third win of the season. Unfortunately, the roster is incredibly shorthanded, as head coach Rick Carlisle will be utilizing a seven-man rotation.
Reports indicate that, technically, eight players are active for the Pacers, according to Indiana-based sports reporter Tony East. However, Obi Toppin will not play against the Hawks on Monday night. That leaves just seven players available for the club's fourth home game of the season.
"Obi Toppin will dress tonight so the Pacers have 8 players active, but he won't play," East posted on X. "So the Pacers' seven: Quenton Jackson, Kelly Oubre, Jarace Walker, Jalen Slawson, Jay Huff, Braden Smith, and Kobe Brown."

The Pacers' entire starting lineup has been ruled out . However, not every player is dealing with an injury. Of the five, Pascal Siakam is not playing against the Hawks, as he's been given a rest day. Meanwhile, Tyrese Haliburton , Andrew Nembhard, Aaron Nesmith, and Ivica Zubac are all dealing with an injury, or just managing an injury.
At the end of the day, giving multiple players rest might just be a strategic play for the Pacers. Tuesday, November 3, is a rest day for all 30 teams in the league, per Insider Brett Siegel. So, this may just be an opportunity Carlisle saw to give his starters a nice break before getting back in action on Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies. But that's assuming a majority of the roster does return for that contest.
