The Green Bay Packers held a padded practice inside the Don Hutson Center today, where they were a little more banged up than initially thought. After being a full participant on Wednesday with no injury status, running back MarShawn Lloyd appeared on the injury report on Thursday with a knee and was given "limited participant" status. For what it's worth, players who drop out of practice with an injury are also given that status, so that's possibly what happened to Lloyd.
The Packers' running back numbers are good right now, as they're already healthy scratching Kaleb Johnson when the whole unit is healthy, so it's unlikely that Green Bay will need to make a roster move if Lloyd can't play against the New England Patriots on Sunday.
The other bad news out of today is that cornerback Keisean Nixon, who was a game-time decision with a groin injury last week, dropped from being a limited participant on Wednesday to a non-participant on Thursday. If he can't go, it's likely that he'd be replaced by Carrington Valentine, who stepped in for Brandon Cisse the last time that outside cornerback reps were made available. Keep an eye on that situation tomorrow, when the Packers will make their first game statuses of the week.
Other non-participants in practice today, beyond Nixon, were tight end Josh Whyle (concussion), center Sean Rhyan (ankle), offensive lineman Travis Glover (knee) and linebacker Zaire Franklin (shin). Rhyan won't be going on the injured reserve, head coach Matt LaFleur clarified in the pre-practice press conference.
The limited participants for Green Bay on Thursday, aside from Lloyd, were running back Chris Brooks (ankle-IR window opened), receiver Christian Watson (rib), left guard Aaron Banks (knee) and edge defender Micah Parsons (knee-PUP window opened).
The Patriots got their own share of bad news today when slot defender Marcus Jones was added to the injury report with a foot injury and was a non-participant in practice. The other non-participants for them today were running back TreVeyon Henderson (illness), receiver A.J. brown (ankle/knee) and tight end Hunter Henry (foot).
