The Green Bay Packers opened the 21-day practice window for rookie offensive lineman John Williams , a seventh-round pick out of Cincinnati who began the 2025 season on the physically unable to perform list due to a back injury that required surgery.
Williams, who missed all of training camp, will now get three weeks of practice to ramp up and prove he's physically ready to be activated to the 53-man roster. Given the amount of time he's missed as a rookie, it's certainly possible Williams will simply get three weeks of much-needed practice time but remain on the reserve list through the end of the season.
The Packers list Williams (6-4, 322) as a guard. He started 24 games at left tackle for Cincinnati over his final two collegiate seasons. His most likely position as a pro is inside, given his size and athleticism.
Per Pro Football Focus, Williams allowed only eight pressures over 823 snaps at left tackle in 2024. He also previously played right tackle.
Williams was an aerospace engineering major at Cincinnati.
The Packers made Williams the 250th overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
