The transaction wire wasn't as busy for the Green Bay Packers this week. However, they did shore up a few positions ahead of Week 5's matchup against the Chicago Bears .
Unfortunately, another player was placed on injured reserve, with linebacker Edgerrin Cooper lost for the year. Meanwhile, the Packers added a fresh face to the backfield.
Here's a breakdown of the Packers roster moves this week:
10/8 – Signed running back Pierre Strong from the practice squad to the active roster
– Signed LB Jack Dingle to the practice squad
10/6 – Placed LB Edgerrin Cooper on injured reserve
– Signed LB Kristian Welch from the practice squad to the active roster
– Signed RB Damon Bankston to the practice squad
LB Edgerrin Cooper Placed on IR

Green Bay Packers linebacker Edgerrin Cooper (56) high fives fans before their game Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Atlanta Falcons beat their Green Bay Packers 35-14.
On Monday, news broke that Cooper had suffered a season-ending torn Achilles in the Packers' Week 4 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The following day, Green Bay placed him on IR, replaced on the roster by Kristian Welch.
Welch was promoted to the 53-man roster in Week 1, making one tackle on 25 special teams snaps. Last season, he played 87 special teams snaps, recording three tackles.
With Cooper out, the Packers will look to Isaiah McDuffie to fill the void. The sixth-year pro has eight solo tackles this year, playing 86 special teams snaps and 44 defensive snaps.
Pierre Strong Promoted to Main Roster With Chris Brooks Injured

Green Bay Packers running back Pierre Strong Jr. (22) runs through a drill during practice on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Ray Nitschke Field in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin.
The Packers promoted Strong on Thursday, a day before ruling Brooks out for Week 5 with an ankle injury. The 27-year-old hasn't played a down in a real NFL game since the 2024 season, but has rushed for 499 yards and two touchdowns with 26 catches for 193 yards in 46 career games with the New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns.
MarShawn Lloyd has failed to get going, and Kaleb Johnson has likely fumbled away – no pun intended – his opportunity for touches. With Brooks out, and unreliable options available, Strong could get a substantial workload against the Bears .
