The Carolina Panthers swapped out a pass catcher for a hog molly ahead of Monday's installment of training camp.
As announced this morning, the team has brought back offensive lineman Joshua Gray —who was waived earlier this summer. To make room for the 26-year-old guard, the Panthers waived rookie tight end Chamon Metayer.
Gray, a three-time second-team All-Pac-12 selection out of Oregon State University, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Atlanta Falcons in 2025. He spent the campaign as a member of their practice squad.
Carolina would then nab Gray on a futures deal in January of 2026. He stuck on until July 24, when he was waived to clear up a spot for offensive tackle Derrell Bailey—who has since been waived.
Metayer joined the Panthers back on July 31. Prior to breaking into the pros, the rookie tight end made three stops over a five-year collegiate career ( Cincinnati , Colorado and Arizona State).
