The Carolina Panthers will be without outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips for Thursday night's matchup against the Green Bay Packers after he was ruled out with a hamstring injury, per the injury report . This leaves Carolina without one of its pass-rushing options as it looks to bounce back from a disappointing loss.

Phillips is in his first season with the Panthers after spending four and a half seasons with the Miami Dolphins before being traded to the Philadelphia Eagles last season. Phillips has recorded 10 tackles (three solo), along with 2.5 sacks and 0.5 stuffs this season. His production has been fair, and his absence takes another defensive option off the table for Carolina heading into a difficult road game.
The Panthers have shown plenty of potential this season. Thursday's game against Green Bay presents an opportunity to respond. The Packers are also coming off a loss, but Green Bay has shown signs of moving in the right direction. Playing at home on a short week gives the Packers an opportunity to get back on track against a Carolina team looking to put its latest performance behind it. There is some reason for the Panthers to feel confident, considering they defeated Green Bay last season.

Carolina still has the talent to make things competitive. The Panthers will need other defenders to step up if they hope to slow down Green Bay and avoid another frustrating result.
