The Pittsburgh Steelers lost 27-24 in their Week 4 meeting with the Cleveland Browns this season. On Sunday, Pittsburgh will have its chance to get even, with the Browns traveling to the Steel City to determine which team will sit atop the AFC North heading into Week 9.
After their first matchup, Browns defensive lineman Jared Verse made it clear after the game that he felt the Steelers played dirty.
"I was talking to them crazy. I was telling them, 'You're double-teaming, y'all sliding, y'all garbage.' I don't got no respect for anybody that plays too dirty and does too much extra s*** after the game," Verse said. "I can't wait to see them again. It's going to be a good time when I see them again."
On Tuesday, Steelers longtime standout Cam Heyward responded on The Rich Eisen Show.
"Double teaming, sliding, chipping, are those not allowed in our game? Yeah, I got the bruises to prove it. But we don't whine about it, baby. It's part of the game," Heyward said.
"And so, I'm looking forward to this game. It's gonna be a fun game. Both teams are in position to do a lot of work in this division, as they say. The AFC North is on fire, and I'm glad I'm in the kitchen because I like it that way. But those are words that were said, and they will be addressed."
Heyward also made it clear that he respects Cleveland and the season the Browns have had.
"I have a lot of respect there for those guys," Heyward said. "But man, I'm looking forward to this game. These are the type of games you want. It's a five-star matchup because we're in it, as Mike [Tomlin] would say. So bring it on."
Sunday's winning team will improve to 6-2 on the season, something only the most optimistic fans of both teams would've predicted heading into the season.
