- Patrick Mahomes Moving Quickly Toward Being Ready For KC Chiefs in Week 1?
Patrick Mahomes just gave Chiefs Kingdom a midweek boost. And in Kansas City , that’s basically Christmas morning at Arrowhead.
The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off a rare down year, missing the playoffs in 2025. But instead of hitting panic mode, they’re loading up—armed with a top-10 pick and an extra first-rounder in the 2026 NFL Draft. This offseason has seen notable change.

Kenneth Walker III arrived in free agency to juice the run game, while Travis Kelce decided to run it back for at least one more ride . But it wasn’t all good vibes—KC said goodbye to a chunk of its core. Trent McDuffie got dealt, and Jaylen Watson , Bryan Cook , Leo Chenal , Isiah Pacheco , and Hollywood Brown all walked in free agency.
It’s that quiet stretch of the offseason where workout clips hit like breaking news—and sure enough, Mahomes dropped one. You already know the media ran with it because when No. 15 is back in motion, and the league’s on notice.

On Wednesday, Mahomes dropped a quick clip on his social media , getting in some indoor work and spinning the rock. He had a sleeve on his left leg—the same one that he tore his ACL in last year’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers —but the motion looked clean. “Day by Day!” he captioned it. “Great being able to throw the ball around today.”

Now, tossing routes in a controlled setting isn’t the same as dodging edge rushers on Sundays—but it’s a solid step in the right direction. Mahomes has already circled Week 1 as his comeback target, which would put him at roughly a nine-month turnaround. That’s pushing the pace for an ACL, but for elite QBs? Not exactly unheard of.
The Chiefs were already fighting uphill last season before QB1 went down. And even with Mahomes back, there’s no automatic ticket back to the top of the AFC. This roster’s in transition, and the margin for error isn’t what it used to be. Still, everything in KC starts with No. 15. Getting him right is priority No. 1—and three months into recovery, the vibes are trending up.
