Patrick Mahomes may have another important role lined up, and it has nothing to do with football.
Kalshi, an online prediction market, posted the question: Who will be a groomsman for the wedding of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift ? Kalshi is a financial trading platform on which users profit by trading (similar to the stock market) on the outcome of events with other users. The percentage figure is based on the trading activity of the users betting on that event.
For Mahomes, 78% of people betting on the outcome believe that he will be a groomsman. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was near the top as far as likelihood, trailing only the groom's brother, Jason Kelce (98%), and childhood friend/personal chef Kumar Ferguson (87%). Taylor Swift's younger brother Austin also got a lot of support at 67%.
The buzz comes as reports suggest a possible wedding date of June 13, 2026, per Page Six . The day carries a symbolic meaning tied to Swift's long-running connection with the number 13. The reported location, Ocean House in Rhode Island, sits near one of Swift's homes and fits the high-profile nature of the event.
Kelce's offseason has already drawn attention after a challenging year on the field. He remained a productive part of the Chiefs' offense, but the team struggled and will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2014. Questions about his future followed as the season ended.
"I'll let that be a decision I'll make with my family, friends, the Chiefs organization when the time comes," Kelce said about his potential retirement from the NFL .
Mahomes is dealing with his own hurdles. He is rehabbing after knee surgery and aiming to return early in the 2026 season.
Whether Mahomes ends up as a groomsman or not, public sentiment reflects their bond beyond the playing field.
