Baltimore Orioles first baseman Pete Alonso has lived up to expectations in his first season with the organization. He signed a five-year, $155 million deal this past winter to become the first major free agent Baltimore has signed in over a decade.
After a slow start, he has easily been the best hitter on the team since May. Across 136 games, the 31-year-old right-handed slugger has posted a .269 batting average, .358 on-base percentage, .861 OPS, 32 home runs and 91 RBIs.

He has the Orioles on the verge of a playoff spot. Entering Sunday, the club sits just one game back of the final American League wild card spot with four weeks remaining in the regular season.

As the race to make the postseason heats up, Alonso is making a name for himself in Baltimore, quickly becoming a fan favorite.
This week he announced a special event in collaboration with Jimmy's Seafood Restaurant to benefit his foundation. The restaurant regularly hosts exclusive fan events with athletes, and this one is no different.

Every Orioles fan attending will get the chance to meet Alonso personally if they purchase tickets for the event, with all money raised benefiting The Alonso Foundation.
The foundation is a non-profit focused on supporting vulnerable groups including animal welfare, veterans and underprivileged youth.
Alonso added that the event will take place on September 5 at 12:00 p.m. EDT with limited seats available. The Orioles have a game against the Boston Red Sox that Saturday, so Alonso will be at the event before heading to Camden Yards.
