Tommy Pham has played in just nine games at the major league level this year. Those games were with the New York Mets , and since then, Pham has been designated for assignment by the Mets and released by the Baltimore Orioles . Pham got another chance at the majors, signing with the Philadelphia Phillies , but he is currently in the minors.
Earlier this week, Pham got into a social media war, which all started with a response on X. A fan posted a video of the end of a game between the St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds . The play came with two outs in the top of the ninth, with men on second and third. The ball was heading towards left, but center fielder Dane Myers called off the left fielder. Myers dropped the ball , and two runs scored, leading to the Cardinals' win.
The fan, "Dugs," then asked a question .

"This ball is in left field. Not even left center. What is going on," Dugs posted?
"What's going on is we have cf's today who know the value of stealing catches to help their ooa numbers go up bcuz it improves your war so you have this, a game that is lost bcuz the cf didn't want the lf to catch the ball bcuz he wanted the points," Pham responded
Myers took issue with Pham's comment.
"A ten year vet, decent one at that, a "brother" calling me selfish. You are talking like an average fan man, you spent all that time in big leagues you should know/remember there's more to a play than what just appears on the screen… that being said play still has to be made," Myers responded.
The Athletic reached out to Pham, and he has stood by his comments .
"This is an issue because center fielders and infielders are now gaming the system for their WAR," Pham wrote to The Athletic in a direct message on X. "When I talked to Tom Tango, who created this system, about it, he acknowledged it and said he will try to fix it for the future."
The feud continued on X for some time. While Pham was a solid player for many years, he is currently sitting on a Triple-A roster. Meanwhile, Myers is playing in the majors, something Pham wishes he were doing.
