The Phillies now sit at 8-14 after losing six straight and seven of their last eight. During this stretch, the club has been outscored 42-10, exposing issues on both offense and run prevention. Chicago controlled the game early, building a lead that never felt in doubt.
Right-hander Aaron Nola struggled again, allowing five earned runs over 4 1/3 innings. The Cubs broke the game open in the second inning, highlighted by a three-run homer from Dansby Swanson . Philadelphia's offense failed to respond, managing just one run despite collecting six hits. Nola's outing reflected the broader inconsistency that has plagued the rotation.
Chicago starter Colin Rea delivered 6 2/3 strong innings, limiting the Phillies to one run while keeping hitters off balance. The Cubs also flashed sharp defense, making plays that prevented a momentum shift. As a result, the matchup became another one-sided outcome during this torrid stretch.
NBC Sports Philadelphia shared Harper's postgame remarks on X, formerly Twitter, capturing the tone of the entire clubhouse following the loss.

"We gotta be better on both sides of the ball."
Harper's message reflects the reality facing the Phillies . The lineup has struggled to generate consistent offense, while pitching and defense continue to allow early deficits. His remarks highlight the urgency within the clubhouse as the team falls behind in the standings.
The Phillies must act swiftly to prevent further deterioration. With continued struggles across the roster, the focus now shifts to how Philadelphia adjusts moving forward. Harper's comments make one thing crystal clear. Improvement must come immediately, as urgency builds within the clubhouse and pressure mounts to turn results around before the season begins slipping further away.
