The Phillies improved to 22-23 after erasing multiple deficits during an 11-9 extra-innings win at PNC Park. The Phillies trailed 6-0 early before later falling behind 8-5 in the ninth inning, but the club responded again with another late comeback under Mattingly. Philadelphia has now won five of its last six games while continuing to gain momentum in the National League East race.
Harper delivered one of the biggest moments of the night when he crushed a game-tying two-run drive off the top of the wall in right-center field during the ninth inning. Kyle Schwarber also powered the offense with two home runs, giving him 20 on the season and the Major League Baseball lead.
NBC Sports Philadelphia shared Harper's emotional postgame reaction on its official X, formerly Twitter, account after the comeback quickly became one of baseball's biggest stories Friday night.
"I had that notion too."
Harper later explained how Mattingly's confidence during a pitching change helped reinforce the belief inside Philadelphia's dugout as the comeback continued unfolding late in the game.

"It was like 7-3 at that point. He said, 'You know we're gonna come back,' and I believed him. I had that notion too. I feel like as a team, that's just who we are. We've built that over the last couple of years, and we saw that tonight."
His comments reiterate the growing confidence surrounding the Phillies during their recent turnaround under Mattingly . Philadelphia has now gone 13-4 since he became interim manager, and the club continues to show the resilience and energy that fans have embraced throughout the impressive stretch.
