According to a report from Alex Stumpf , the Pirates have promoted right-hander Chris Devenski from Triple-A.

"Chris Devenski is heading to Pittsburgh," Stumpf wrote on X. "The veteran right-hander has struck out 14 over 8 innings with Triple-A Indianapolis this season. He will need to be added to the roster, so a corresponding move will come today."

Left-hander Hunter Barco was optioned to Triple-A to make space on the roster.

Devenski, 35, is a 10-year veteran who earned an All-Star selection and won the World Series with the Houston Astros in 2017.

He made 13 appearances with the New York Mets in 2025, posting a 2.16 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 16 innings before being designated for assignment to make room for Sean Manaea 's return from the injured list in September.

The Pirates are on day nine of a thirteen-day streak with a game, so their bullpen could be wearing down.

At the very least, adding an extra arm like Devenski's to the mix gives manager Don Kelly the flexibility to give other relievers some rest.
