The Pirates traded right-handed pitcher Hunter Stratton to the Padres for minor-league right-hander Andrew Moore. Stratton had been designated for assignment on Saturday.
Stratton, who pitched for the Pirates from 2023-25, returned to the organization in a trade with the Braves for catcher Joey Bart in June. He made a pair of appearances after the trade and allowed a pair of runs in 2.1 innings. Stratton also made seven scoreless appearances with Triple-A Indianapolis.
Moore, who was assigned to Indianapolis, was originally a 14th-round pick of the Mariners in 2021. In 30 relief appearances between Double-A and Triple-A this season, the 26-year-old is 0-1 with a 3.46 ERA. He's allowed 15 earned runs on 21 hits with 43 walks and 62 strikeouts in 39 innings. Opponents have hit .160 against him.
