Pitt basketball | Panthers add 2 more players through portal
The Pitt men's basketball team added two more players through the transfer portal Friday.
Former Concord forward Kraig Gilbert and Syracuse forward Ibrahim Souare will play for the Panthers. Gilbert is 6-foot-8 and Souare is 6-9. Both players will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Gilbert averaged 16.3 points per game at NCAA Division II member Concord during his sophomore season. Gilbert made 48% of his 3-point attempts in 2025-26. He grabbed five rebounds per game over 14 starts. His final game was Jan. 21 and missed the end of the season due to an ankle injury. He averaged 9.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game as a freshman. The Grove City, Ohio, native will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Souare played in 29 games for the Orange in 2025-26. He averaged 8.2 minutes per game and totaled 54 rebounds, 25 points and 18 blocks. The Guinea native spent his first two seasons at Georgia Tech . He made 14 starts and played in 30 games as a redshirt freshman in 2024-25. Souare averaged 2.8 points and 3.6 boards per contest. He blocked 17 shots.
Pitt added 10 players from the portal, including former Alabama guard Jalil Bethea , Brigham Young forward Dominique Diomande, Syracuse guard Naithan George, Gardner-Webb guard Colin Hawkins , Mercer center Armani Mighty, Georgia Tech forward Baye Ndongo, North Carolina sophomore guard Jonathan Powell and Charleston Southern guard A’lahn Sumler.
Guard Macari Moore is expected to be the only scholarship player to rejoin Pitt’s team in 2026-27. Forward Chase Foster and guard Jermal Jones Jr. signed with Pitt in November.
