Pitt guard Brandin Cummings plans to enter transfer portal

After two seasons at Pitt , sophomore guard and former Lincoln Park boys high school basketball standout Brandin Cummings plans to enter the transfer portal, according to Joe Tipton of On3 Sports.

The Midland native enjoyed a successful two seasons at Pitt before suffering an ankle injury midway through the 2025-26 campaign.

This past season for the Panthers, Cummings appeared in 19 games, including nine starts, averaging 12.5 points per game before suffering the season-ending injury.

He shot 42 percent from the field and 32 percent from three-point range, reaching double figures in 10 games.

Early in his sophomore season, Cummings put on a record-breaking performance against Hofstra on December 7, scoring a career high 34 points off the bench, 30 of which came in the second half.

Those 34 points were the most points scored in program history by a bench player and the second most points in Petersen Events Center history.

In his career at Pitt, Cummings averaged 8.6 points per game and has eclipsed 20 points in four games and reached the 30-point mark twice.

In high school, Cummings was one of the top-ranked recruits in Pennsylvania, ranked among the state's top-five players.

During his career at Lincoln Park, he joined his brother, Nelly Cummings as a 2,000-point scorer and became just the second set of brothers to reach that mark, joining Chartiers Valley’s T.J. and Matty McConnell.
