It felt like three points were there for the taking at St James' Park.
Bournemouth produced another hugely encouraging performance for large parts of their 2-2 draw with Newcastle United , twice taking the lead and causing the hosts plenty of problems. There were moments of brilliant attacking football, impressive individual performances and plenty to suggest there is a lot to be excited about under Marco Rose.
But once again, the Cherries failed to see the job through. So, who impressed and who struggled at St James' Park? Here are our Bournemouth player ratings from a thrilling - and ultimately frustrating - afternoon on Tyneside.
Djordje Petrovic
In the end Newcastle's only two shot's on target evaded the Serbian, but there was little he could do about either strike. Claimed a few balls into the box to settle the defensive unit. 7/10
Adam Smith
Another full game for the Cherries skipper who continues to roll back the years. A dogged display by the Bournemouth legend, only caught on occasion in transitions. 7/10
James Hill
The defender looked back to his usual self with a solid and commanding performance. His partnership alongside new signing Antonio Silva is starting to look a strong one. 8/10
Antonio Silva
Antonio continues to look like a really good bit of business from the Cherries. His calmness in possession makes him the ideal replacement for last season's mainstay Marcos Senesi, who left for Tottenham this summer. 8/10
Adrien Truffert
Pipping the man of the match award for this one, a flawless game from the full back. Elanga has started the season in superb form, but he was simply pocketed by the Frenchman throughout. Becoming so key for the Cherries backline. 9/10

Tyler Adams
Adams came back into the side for Lewis Cook and showed why he was needed for this one. His intelligence of the position and in breaking up any Newcastle counters was on point in the opening periods. The American unsurprisingly tired after a gruelling World Cup, but he showed his importance to the side. 8/10
Alex Scott
Running out of superlatives for the midfield magician. Alex is consistently one of the best players on the pitch and it was no different in this one. A joy to watch and surely an England call up is around the corner. 9/10

Rayan
Barring a couple of direct runs, the Brazilian is struggling to show the form that excited the Cherries fans following his January arrival. 6/10
Justin Kluivert
An improved performance from Justin, albeit still not quite hitting the levels he can hit. Can never underestimate his importance in the press in that first half, but understandably tired early into the second half. 7/10
Marcus Tavernier
Another goal and another top display from Tav, he's fast becoming one of the Cherries' most impactful players. 9/10

Evanilson
If you rated Evanilson on work rate, link up play and desire in the press then he'd be a ten out of ten most games, this was no different. But sadly for the Brazilian he's a centre forward and its still no goal since February, despite having another great chance to bag in this one. 7/10
Once again it felt as if the substitutes were chucked on a little late, which is becoming a theme under new head coach Marco Rose. Perhaps more chance for fringe players to shine in their EFL Cup fixture with Lincoln in the week.
