If there's a question when it comes to Georgia's offense entering 2026, there's one position group that comes to mind in a hurry.
Receivers.
We've seen it repeatedly under the Kirby Smart regime – that turnover at this position has turned the state of the Bulldogs' ability to run the offense through the air on its ear. Could Gunner Stockton suffer the same step back as we saw with Jake Fromm after his first season starter?
This season will determine that.
Needless to say, the Dawgs are depleted in the receiving room coming away from a season ago. Zachariah Branch and his gamebreaking ability on the perimeter? Gone. Ditto for Colbie Young, Dillon Bell and Noah Thomas.
Branch and Thomas alone combined for more than 1,200 yards and 10 touchdowns last year. For Georgia, its simple that the job at hand is: replace that offensive impact.
As far as snaps go, London Humphreys will have to lead the way. He's the only receiver with multiple scores in 2025. As shown in the Tennessee game, he can make plays deep, and the flashes of that will need to continue for this team, which frankly has no WR1. The familiarity between Stockton and Humphreys clearly does not hurt, and that could also add up to Humphreys being a safety-valve type target for the UGA offense.
If this offense is to suceed, having someone develop as a go-to receiver is not a want…its a need.
Could that come from the transfer portal by way of Georgia's in-state rival? That's where Isaiah Canion comes in. He comes over from Georgia Tech, where his physical versatility made him a big asset in the Yellow Jacket's short-to-mid range passing game. And if you saw him play as a high schooler at Warner Robins or caught highlight clips, he's a guy that can turn chunk plays into bigger ones. Georgia will be counting on him to do just that.
Humphreys and Canion are proven. But there will others relied on from a group that has been highly touted, but is unproven…for now. Redshirt freshman Talyn Taylor could develop into an electric threat on the perimeter, especially combined with Stockton's innate ability to extend plays. Sacovie White-Helton and Landon Roldan are others in a similar boat, players who arrived in Athens with much expected of them.
Much like the entire position group, the onus will be on them to step up. As Georgia's receivers go this fall, so goes the offense.
