The Pittsburgh Steelers will have the chance to trade up in the 2026 NFL Draft if they want to.
It remains unclear what the Pittsburgh Steelers plans are in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. However, if they're eyeing a player they don't think will be available to them at pick No. 21, they just received an olive branch.
According to Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network, Miami Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan says they are open to trading down from the No. 11 overall pick since they are in the roster building stage and he'd value two good players compared to one really good player.
That certainly sets up a very interesting scenario for the Steelers, who have plenty of draft capital to execute a trade up, with 12 total selections.
The question is: Is that what Pittsburgh is still hoping to do without a potential franchise quarterback being on the other end of the deal?
The Steelers operated last offseason with the intent of accumulating as many compensatory picks as possible to help them with a potential trade up to grab a quarterback.
They were fairly successful in doing so, but the crop of quarterbacks dwindled, and now only one seems to be a sure thing: Presumptive No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza .

That doesn't mean there aren't any players worthy of trading up for, though. Pittsburgh seems to be out of the range of top wide receivers Makai Lemon and Jordyn Tyson , who currently rank as the No. 13 and 15 overall players on the NFL Mock Draft Database's consensus big board .
The team just traded for wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. this offseason, but Lemon and Tyson could provide an immediate impact and long-term insurance at the position.
Penn State offensive guard Olaivavega Ioane , who the Steelers just hosted for a pre-draft visit this week, also ranks as the No. 16 overall prospect.
Starting left guard Isaac Seumalo signed with the Arizona Cardinals in free agency and Pittsburgh has only added former undrafted free agent Brock Hoffman to compete with former seventh-round pick Spencer Anderson for the job, making Ioane an intriguing option, too.
Only time will tell what the Steelers will decide to do, but they now have a known trade partner if they would like to go get their guy in the first round.
