- Raiders News: Amy Trask thinks the Raiders made the right call on Mendoza

The Las Vegas Raiders decided to roll with Kirk Cousins as the starting quarterback to start the season. It wasn't a surprise to much of the Raiders fan base with Fernando Mendoza expected to sit and learn behind the veteran. The expectation had already been set.
Former Raiders executive Amy Trask agrees with the decision. During a segment on CBS Sports Network, she gave her thoughts on the Raiders quarterback situation.
"You drafted him with the No. 1 pick, presumably because you believe him to be your quarterback of the future. So you need to balance short-term with long-term. And my understanding is that Klint Kubiak is putting an emphasis on long-term planning, long-term success. And I think that speaks highly of Klint."
The Raiders are in rebuild mode, and the team is looking to be a contender in the next few seasons. That's why it is important to make sure Mendoza is ready to play so his confidence isnt shaken up early. Mendoza does have the personality to handle it, but there is no need to rush right now.
