- Rams getting leadership from unlikely source
Blake Corum has absolutely been emerging as a leader for the Los Angeles Rams on the field as he continues to handle more touches for L.A., and make the most of opportunities. Corum also could be becoming a more vocal leader, but I'm speculating. Maybe he always was.
While the Rams were struggling, or even in their win over the Philadelphia Eagles, there were questions of identity. Following back-to-back wins, and the Rams appear to have an identity with Corum being a big part of it.

Whether Corum is becoming more vocal with the team or not, he's well-spoken anytime he gets in front of a microphone. The idea of Corum becoming a real leader for the Rams doesn't seem like a stretch. As it stands, the Rams need Corum and Kyren Williams to keep leading the way for the offense whether that is just in terms of production or something more like being vocal and someone to rally around.
Corum developing as a steady presence is clearly a good development for the Rams.
Another positive development for L.A. is that Myles Garrett should practice this week. A not so positive development is that Matthew Stafford is dealing with arm soreness, but odds are that's not new, but it might be news.
We're already halfway through the season as the NFL news keeps coming and we keep on trucking.

"To the start of the second half, the Rams handed the ball to Corum in four straight possessions, before Matthew Stafford could not connect with the running back on a passing play. After two plays to star wide receiver Puka Nacua, the Rams once again fed Corum the ball, leading to a 23-yard rushing touchdown, which helped give them more breathing room.
"We came in here after halftime and said, 'Let's start fresh,'" Corum said after the win, referring to how the Rams needed a change in mindset after the previously mentioned slow start to the game.
"The first half didn't go as we wanted it to go, right? It wasn't good at all, didn't get many plays at all, a lot of three-and-outs. So [Rams head coach Sean McVay] challenged us and we were able to go out there, but that's a credit to the offensive line and everyone blocking and allowing me just to use my vision and go from there. It was great to see."

"Stafford hasn't missed a snap all year due to injury, and he's shown no signs of discomfort. However, that doesn't mean he hasn't been playing through some pain, as he often does.
It's worth noting that Stafford dealt with an elbow issue in 2022. He underwent surgery on his elbow that offseason but was still ready for the start of the regular season. He missed eight games that season due to a concussion and spinal cord contusion."
Los Angeles Rams Face New Injury Concern With Matthew Stafford (heavy.com)
""They're asking a 38-year-old Stafford to overcome a lack of trust with young options while fearing the next turnover," The Athletic's Nate Atkins wrote on November 2. "The Rams are walking a tightrope over fire right now. If they stay on the rope, they can still reach the promised land.

"But they can't afford to slip anytime soon."
The good news is that the Rams have lessened the load on Stafford, who averaged over 53 pass attempts per game from Weeks 3 through 5. He has averaged 29.0 attempts per game in the three games since."
Rams Announce Major Myles Garrett Decision Amid Noteworthy Update (heavy.com)
"The Rams need to beat the 2-4-1 Washington Commanders and 3-5 Cardinals on the road the next two weeks to reach 6-4. Then they'll get a bye week, with hopes of returning Garrett, Turner, Ferguson and Parkinson."
The return of Garrett to the practice field was not the only positive for the Rams. They also got encouraging news on second-year tight end Terrance Ferguson .

"Terrance Ferguson has a good chance to practice this week, too," Atkins noted.
Ferguson has been sidelined since Week 3 against the Denver Broncos due to an ankle injury. He was expected to be the Rams' de factor WR3 this season. Getting him back will have a significant impact on the offense just as Garrett's return will on the defense."
Myles Garrett will return to practice this week for Los Angeles Rams (espn)
"LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles Rams star pass rusher Myles Garrett will return to practice this week, coach Sean McVay said.
Garrett has been on injured reserve since having arthroscopic knee surgery in mid-September. Garrett played in the Rams' season opener but said after the game that he was not 100% healthy. He missed most of training camp while dealing with what McVay called knee irritation.

McVay said Monday that he did not want to put a timeline on when Garrett will be able to play in a game.
"I want to be careful to even set any sort of expectations," McVay said. "I think just taking it a day at a time is going to be the best way that we can approach it. Think that's the right thing for him, and really just to see how he responds. But I think it's a real positive that we're starting his clock."
Sean McVay shares positive updates on Rams CBs Trent McDuffie, Jaylen Watson (ramswire)
"McVay told reporters that Watson is "feeling good and optimistic" after aggravating his shoulder injury in the third quarter, and he's considered day-to-day. Additionally, McDuffie "came in feeling better than expected" after hurting his back while making a tackle in the third quarter.

McDuffie said he was "feeling good" after the game while doing an on-field interview, which was a good sign to begin with, but it's encouraging to hear McVay said he's feeling even better on Monday."
Rams PFF grades: Best and worst performers in win vs. Chargers (ramwire)
"Think the Rams' offensive line played well? Four of their five highest-graded players were along the O-line, led by Avila and his 86.1 grade. As a team, the Rams allowed only one pressure all day, which was given up by Warren McClendon Jr. Even the sack Matthew Stafford took wasn't pinned on the O-line, but rather on the quarterback himself.
Avila's 82.9 run-blocking grade led all players, while Alaric Jackson's 84.8 pass-blocking grade topped the team."

"TE Terrance Ferguson , who is currently on injured reserve with an ankle injury, has a good chance to return to practice this week, head coach Sean McVay said.

NFL Week 8 Sunday aftermath: Ravens' season on the brink; can Vikings trust Kyler Murray? (nfl.com)
"Now that it's November, the playoff picture is starting to emerge, and Week 8 featured a number of key divisional matchups that could have lasting effects on the rest of the season.

The Broncos and Steelers notched revenge wins over the Chiefs and Browns, respectively. The Lions asserted themselves in the uber-tough NFC North, while the Jaguars handed the Colts a potentially fatal blow in a season cratering toward disaster.
Let's examine some key storylines in Sunday's aftermath, including:
But first, we start with Lamar Jackson suffering a potential season-ending injury and where the Ravens go from here."
Cardinals name Gardner Minshew starting quarterback; rookie Carson Beck to be backup (nfl.com)
" Gardner Minshew will be Arizona's starter "moving forward," coach Mike LaFleur announced Monday, while rookie Carson Beck will be his backup, starting in Week 9 against the Seahawks.

Minshew replaces Jacoby Brissett , who started Arizona's first eight games but now slides into an emergency third QB role.
"That's not easy," LaFleur said of demoting Brissett, who has led the Cards to a 3-5 record. "It's not a fun phone call. There's no book for that, obviously. There's a human element to it. I have a lot of respect for Jacoby the person. I have a lot of respect for Jacoby the player. Like I told you guys yesterday, this was not all on him. This was collective, starting with me.
"But the position that those guys sign up for, we know the deal. We needed a spark, and obvious Gardner gave us one."
Minshew provided the spark in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Cowboys when he entered for a benched Brissett with Arizona down, 17-3. What followed was a mad-cap comeback, with Minshew completing 17 of 23 passes for 188 yards and three touchdowns, leading five scoring drives, including the game-winning march in overtime to win, 33-30."
