Rams insider expects 50-50 split for Kyren Williams, Blake Corum

The Los Angeles Rams roll into the 2026 season with the same running back group they had in 2025, but this upcoming year could see a more even split between the teams' top two ballcarriers.

The Athletic's Nate Aktins wrote that fans should "expect" a 50-50 split between starter Kyren Williams and Blake Corum this season after the success of last year. Akins added that Williams would be "a primary third-down back and between-the-tackles runner and Corum more of a change-of-pace option with explosive capabilities."

Whether or not this comes to fruition remains to be seen, but the Rams were more committed to splitting carries as the 2025 season progressed. Williams saw 64% of the Rams' carries a year ago, but only saw two more carries than Corum in L.A.'s wild-card win over the Carolina Panthers , and just one carry in the NFC championship loss to the Seattle Seahawks .

Corum wasn't a key contributor to the Rams' offense in his rookie year, but McVay seems to like what he's seen from the Michigan product in recent months. He finished the year with 746 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 5.1 yards per carry. He and Williams formed arguably the best running back duo in 2025 , and now, it sounds as though the offense will be much more of a committee than it was before.

Atkins added that 2025 fourth-rounder Jarquez Hunter "will have to wait his turn again" but could be the first player to get a crack at taking over if either Williams or Corum gets injured.
