With the Los Angeles Rams in the midst of the 2026 offseason, the team is heading into the upcoming season with an extra pep in its step after making the blockbuster trade for defensive end Myles Garrett . As the Rams look to rank among the best teams in the NFL for this season, ESPN would speak about where the team places itself with the rest of the league.
Ranking all 32 of the projected starting lineups for next season, Los Angeles would rank No. 1, especially after the Garrett trade, though Mike Clay would say the team's biggest strength is quarterback, led by Matthew Stafford . Though Clay would say how "it's tough to pick one strength," with edge rusher, cornerback, wide receiver, and each side of the trenches standing out.
"Of course, the Rams' Super Bowl chances hinge most on the health and continued strong play of reigning NFL MVP Matthew Stafford , 38," Clay wrote. "He dominated in 2025, pacing the NFL in both passing yards (4,707) and passing TDs (46) while finishing fourth in QBR. With the league's best roster around him, Stafford is set up for another elite season. First-round rookie Ty Simpson is his new backup."

Clay would continue talking about the Rams, and when writing about the team's weaknesses, he chose the tight ends, led by Tyler Higbee , Colby Parkinson , Davis Allen , Terrance Ferguson , and Max Klare. However, he would even write that "none might be the best answer."
As for the "X Factor for 2026" for Los Angeles, Seth Walder spoke about the health of Stafford and receiver Davante Adams , especially how each player has dealt with injuries in the past.
"The Rams are the best team in football, but they have a couple of Achilles' heels they must protect," Walder wrote.
At any rate, Los Angeles looks to live up to their expectations for next season as the team comes off a 12-5 record, finishing second in the NFC West, as the team starts this year on Sept. 10 against the San Francisco 49ers .
