The Boston Red Sox have had a tough start to the 2026 season. One of the reasons is because of injuries to their pitching staff. That disappointing trend appears to have continued on Sunday, as Ranger Suarez had to leave his start early.
" Ranger Suarez is coming out of the game after four innings and 70 pitches, which is a red flag," team reporter Tim Healey posted to X, formerly Twitter.
Suarez is one of several hurlers that Boston has relied on this year. So many of the team's pitchers have gone down with injuries at some point in the first month of the season.
"Red Sox season-opening rotation: Crochet: IL Gray: IL Early: quite good, bad yesterday, said he didn't feel like himself Suarez: just left the game early Bello: bad," Healey added in a separate post.
The Red Sox fired their manager Alex Cora following the tough start to the season. Chad Tracy is now managing the team. Boston is out to a 13-20 start to the year, and last in the American League East.

The Red Sox fired Cora in the hopes that a change could help the team start winning. It hasn't come easy for the club. Boston is having to work as hard as possible to get some healthy arms in the rotation.
"Plus new injuries to depth options Oviedo, Sandoval, Crawford, Uberstine," Healey added in one of his X posts, discussing the depth of pitching injuries Boston has already had to wade through.
The Red Sox hope that Suarez is doing alright. He has started seven contests this season, and posted a 2.77 ERA. Suarez joined Boston ahead of the 2026 campaign, after playing for the Philadelphia Phillies for several seasons.
In his career, Suarez has a 3.35 career ERA during the regular season. The pitcher has 55 career regular season victories, including two this year.
Boston enters Sunday's game having lost three of their last four games.
