If a recent report from The Scottish Sun is true, Rangers could turn their attention to Rayan Fofana ahead of a potential summer move. RC Lens are open to sanctioning a season-long loan for their striking ace, and the Glasgow giants, who are exploring the market for another 'number 9′ following Youssef Chermiti's ACL injury, have been made aware he's available on a short-term deal.
The 20-year-old French youth international progressed through Espérance Paris 19e, JA Drancy and Lens' academy ranks before securing a regular role for their reserves. Will Still handed him his Ligue 1 debut at the back end of the 2024-25 campaign, and the youngster went on to feature 29 times last season across competitions under Pierre Sage.
While most of his appearances were off the bench, Fofana showed his quality high up the pitch, scoring six goals and assisting one in limited minutes. New boss Dino Toppmöller brought him in as a late substitute in their 1-0 Trophée des Champions victory against Paris Saint-Germain; however, he remained an unused substitute this weekend in their emphatic 5-2 win over AJ Auxerre.

Former Rangers attacker Abdallah Sima and Celtic centre-forward Odsonne Edouard are already the preferred options upfront. Franjo Ivanović's loan arrival from Benfica has pushed the Frenchman further down the pecking order, and a temporary switch away from Stade Bollaert-Delelis would boost his chances of attaining more gametime.
After a dreadful couple of weeks, the Light Blues are slowly gaining momentum with back-to-back wins against St Mirren and Jablonec in the League Cup and the UEFA Europa Conference League, respectively. Ryan Naderi has found the net in both fixtures, but Derek McInnes' reunion with Lawrence Shankland has yet to bring the spark of their Hearts tenure. Despite scoring a few key goals, Bojan Miovski is viewed as a bit-part option, as the Macedonian does not actively influence build-up play outside the penalty area.
Fofana is still nursing finer tactical and aerial consistency given his young age, but has already demonstrated his 'fox in the box' attribute. He knows how to create opportunities on his own, and his physical presence makes it exceptionally difficult for opponents to dispossess him. The attacking prospect draws a high volume of fouls with his hold-up play, which should help him adapt to the aggression of the Scottish game.
