After failing to reach the postseason for the third consecutive season since winning the World Series title in 2023, the Texas Rangers are officially in offseason mode.
Despite outside business not being open until after the World Series ends, the Rangers are already taking care of things internally on the medical side .

Late last week, Texas got some clarity on where things stand from an injury perspective on some of its key players.
Seager gets minor surgery
Most notably, shortstop Corey Seager underwent a surgery to remove a bone spur from his elbow.
After the season ended, it was revealed that Seager had been dealing with the elbow issue for a significant part of the year's stretch run.
It was an injury-riddled season for Seager, who appeared in just 102 games for the second straight season. The shortstop spent significant time on the Injured List with a back injury and also a concussion.
During those 102 games, Seager hit .227 with 20 home runs and 51 RBI. It's safe to say that the Rangers not having him available and performing was one of the key factors in missing the playoffs once again.

In 2027, Seager simply being in the lineup will be huge for Texas, and his small elbow surgery will not prevent him from ramping up for next season, as he is expected to begin his normal offseason work soon .
Rangers dodge bullet with Jung
On the contrary, third baseman Josh Jung will not require surgery on his hand fracture, which he sustained during the season's final series.
Jung was hit by a 95-mph fastball and sustained a fracture in the fifth metacarpal of his right hand.
When the season ended, Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young said that there was both a surgical and non-surgical route for Jung. Luckily for Texas, it appears the non-surgical route is the one they will go with.

Like Seager, Jung also missed significant time in 2026, playing in just 104 games but posted a very strong .299 batting average to go along with 12 home runs and 42 RBI in easily his best season since the World Series run.
Jansen undergoes surgery
Additionally, catcher Danny Jansen underwent minor surgery to remove bone growth spurts in his right hand.
Jansen is also expected to begin his normal offseason program soon. In his first season with the Rangers, Jansen appeared in 67 games, hitting .203 with eight home runs and 26 RBI. He was named the Texas player of the month in September.
