The Rangers are placing Dylan Garandand Taylor Raddyshon waivers as they continue cutting down their roster ahead of NHL Opening Night.
New York had to make two more moves to get their roster squared away.
Garand comes as a bit of a surprise, as the Blueshirts now risk losing a 24-year-old netminder who has shown positives during brief stints in the NHL.
According to Mollie Walker of the NY Post , the team is willing to take that risk because they feel he needs more developing to be getting No. 1 goalie reps.
It wouldn't be a surprise to see someone take a shot on the youngster, though.
With Garand now set to fall short of the pro roster out of camp, the Blueshirts will lean on veteran Joonas Korpisaloas the backup for star starter Igor Shesterkinto begin the year.
As for Raddysh, him being cut loose is a little less surprising as he was seemingly set to serve as nothing more than a healthy scratch or bottom-six forward with the team.
The 28-year-old appeared in 68 games with the Rangers last season.
Putting him on waivers to either be claimed or sent down to Hartford to start the season opens room to keep big fourth-liner Matt Rempeand young Jaroslav Chmelaron the roster.
We'll find out by 2 p.m. on Monday if either of them gets scooped up.
